ODMAFair Returns to Melbourne for 2027

The Australian optical industry’s premier trade event, ODMAFair, is officially heading back to Melbourne in 2027.
Recognised as the central meeting place for Australia’s optical industry since 1979, ODMAFair27 will showcase the latest innovations across lenses, frames, sunglasses, accessories, equipment, technology and more.
The event will take place Friday 13 – Saturday 14 August 2027 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, bringing together suppliers, practitioners and industry leaders from across Australia and New Zealand.
Owned by the Australian optical industry and developed by the industry, for the industry, ODMAFair continues to evolve in response to the needs of exhibitors and practices. Following the highly successful Sydney event in 2025, ODMA conducted extensive surveys with both exhibitors and practices to guide decisions around the next event’s timing and location.
The feedback was clear. Key insights highlighted July/August as the preferred timing, with strong support for including a weekend day, and a clear preference for the event to be held in one of Australia’s two largest cities, Sydney or Melbourne, alternating locations if possible.
ODMA CEO Amanda Trotman said the return to Melbourne reflects the industry’s voice. “The decision to bring ODMAFair back to Melbourne now seems obvious, but it took considerable planning and reflection to ensure we did what’s right for the industry,” Ms Trotman said. “Of course, Australia’s major custom built trade fair venues are very busy and booked years ahead, so we are excited to have found a great solution for 2027. We will now focus on securing venue options into the future with this input in mind, in order to obtainthe best event date and location options for ODMA exhibitors and visitors”.
ODMAFair27 will also host the popular Women in Optics event, first launched at the 2025 Sydney Fair. An initiative designed to strengthen the optical industry by empowering and connecting the growing community of women leaders within it.
With strong industry backing and growing momentum, ODMAFair27 is set to once again bring the optical community together for two days of innovation, networking and inspiration.
